New 2009 Aerials added to KnoxNetWhere

KGIS has added its newly acquired, 1-ft.-resolution aerial ortho-photography to KNOXnetWhere?.  The photography was flown back in March 2009 as part of KGIS's landbase update project with Sanborn & Co. KGIS is scheduled to receive updates to its other landbase data (incl. building footprints, edges of pavement, hydrography, topography, etc.) in 2009.

Updates to KGIS Lite

You will quickly notice that KGIS Lite has had a face-lift.  We have changed the name from "KGIS Lite" to "MY KGIS Lite" which will be our standard naming convention for all internal mapping websites (for example: KnoxNetWhere will become MY KnoxNetWhere for the internal audience in the near future).  The color scheme was also modified to make it easier to distinguish between the two sites (public and internal).

New functionality - PRINTING - is now available in My KGIS Lite.  Templates have been created for both letter (8 1/2 x 11) and tabloid (11 X 17) sized prints in both portrait and landscape formats.  These are the same templates used in the KnoxNetWhere Simple Print tool so prints from either site should look the same.

If you have any problems with this latest release please contact the KGIS office or email Bryan at blynn@kgis.org.

2010 County Commission Districts added to KnoxNetWhere

The newly proposed County Commission Districts for 2010 can now be viewed in KnoxNetWhere (Intranet version) via the County Commission map theme. Two layers have been added: 1) County Comm District Boundaries 2009 shows the outline of the new districts, and 2: County Comm Districts 2009 shows the districts by shaded polygons. The layers are off by default and to turn them on click here for Instructions. It should be noted that the boundaries reflect the Plan 3a, which was adopted on first reading by the Knox County Commission on Aug. 24, 2009. It will be before County Commission for a second reading on Sept. 28, 2009. For more information on the Redistricting of the County Commission districts click on the link http://www.knoxmpc.org/redistricting/.
