Google Street view and Microsoft Bird's Eye View added to My KnoxNetWhere and My MPC Case Mapping

A tool has been added to the My KnoxNetWhere and to the My MPC Case Mapping applications to let the user see the Google Street view or the Microsoft Bird's Eye view.

 

How to use:

1) Click Settings in the upper right to set the tool to Google Street view or Bird's Eye view, Next choose Bird's Eye View and then click Submit.

2) Zoom in to where you can see the edge of pavement.

3) Click on the camera tool on the tool bar.

4) Place you cursor at the location of the area of interest.

5) Click the left mouse button.

KGIS Updates Planimetric and Topographic Data

KGIS has loaded the new planimetric/topographic data for the West half of the County (just west of Norwood Elementary off Merchants Dr and Lakeshore Park off Lyons View Dr).  The data was collected from 2007 LiDAR and Aerial Photography from March 2008.  The East half of the County will be updated by LiDAR and Aerial Photography collected in March 2010.  This update is staying within the plan of a complete update of the entire county over a six year period.  The cycle is listed below.   KGIS will be rolling this data to the public website in next few weeks.  KGIS will also convert to design files soon to support engineering needs.  Please call if any questions.

Year 3  Middle West of County Plan and Topo Update
Year 4  6" Aerial Photography and LiDAR

PDF Maps of Knox County

PDF MapKGIS has published various PDF maps of Knox County. Examples are: City Council, County Commission, School Board, Zip Codes, etc.. Now users can click on the links and print or save the pdf maps on their home computer. Click on the map image to the right or follow the link to the Products tab and then click on PDF Maps of Knox County.

Tips - Tricks! How to access Google Street View from KGIS

Google and Bing are becoming indispensable to map users. Some folks may not realize that KGIS's newest mapping application, KGIS Lite, (which has now been replaced with KGIS Maps) allows for quick access to these invaluable sites. In other words, KGIS Lite - KGIS's new interactive mapping websitewhile clicking on the KGIS map for such things as Property or Owner information, one simply has to choose the "Picture Viewer" tool in order to display Google's Street View or Bing's Bird's Eye View maps of the same area.
