LiDAR Aerial Mission has been Suspended

Pictometry unable to complete mission prior to "leaf-on" conditions

Unfortunately, Pictometry's project manager, Jim Kanaley, has informed KGIS staff that its LiDAR mission on behalf of KGIS and KUB is still only 70% complete as of today, April 14, 2015. Therefore, considering the high level of "leaf-on" conditions, which adversely affect the accuracy of the end product, KGIS has called for a suspension to the project. The LiDAR mission had called for flying all of Knox County and KUB's service area outside of Knox County at a precision to support generation of 2 foot contours. Read More...

ESRI Software Upgrade to be Re-Scheduled

from ArcGIS Web Server v10.0 to v10.2

The planned ArcGIS Server upgrade for this upcoming weekend (March 28-29, 2015) has been canceled to allow for further testing and adjustments to existing code.

KGIS staff have recently identified a mission-critical application that is using web services hosted on KGIS.ORG, but which has not been fully tested.  Therefore, it is important that the upgrade task be delayed in order to assess the impact.  A new revised upgrade schedule will be released later (and posted onto this site.) KUB introduces Construction Projects Map

highlights Large Utility projects having duration > 2 weeks

KUB has recently added a new interactive Construction Projects map that highlights the utility's large construction projects (those having a scheduled duration of two weeks or greater). The map separates out each project according to the utility type (water, sewer, gas or electric), and allows one to "click" on the map to retrieve more details about each. Chrome Dropping Silverlight

Google Chrome will phase out Silverlight support in 2015

Now that HTML5 has become more widely supported, Google has announced a timeline for their discontinued support for Microsoft's Silverlight plug-in.  This will take place in 3 phases over the next 9 months with support being completely removed by September 2015.  Click here to see how KGIS plans to adjust to the upcoming changes.
