Website Links to Plat Docs have been removed

The Register of Deeds Office has requested that the recently- implemented links to the recorded PLAT DOCUMENTS be removed from KGIS's websites. However, KGIS users (both inter-departmental and general public) will still be able to access the recorded DEED DOCUMENTS (or what KGIS users may know as "Owner Documents"). In the meanwhile, if you need to access the recorded plat documents ( or what KGIS users refer to as "Parcel Documents"), you will need to contact the Register's Office or access them via their subscription service.

KGIS uses 2007 Orthophotography to update Building Footprints and Edge of Pavement for Knox County

These feature classes were collected using heads-up digitizing and are not as accurate as the other Planimetric feature classes. However, these features can be useful in showing a map that more accurately represents the March 2007 landscape. Below is a list of new feature classes created and the number of new and destroyed features:

  • STR_BuildingAdditions_KNO – 15,553 new buildings seen in 2007 aerial image and not seen in 2003.
  • STR_BuildingsDestroyed_KNO- 4,781 buildings not seen in 2007 aerial image and seen in 2003.
  • TRANS_EOPAdditons_KNO – 3,708 new edges of pavement lines seen in 2007 aerial image and not seen in 2003.
  • TRANS_EOPDestroyed_KNO- 203 edges of pavement lines not seen in 2007 and seen in 2003.
The features can be found at the following Database Connection: WinUser@kgissde.sde (which is the KGIS production database).

Welcome to the NEW.KGIS.NET website!

Notice that the URL address has changed (to NEW.KGIS.NET) for this website. If you have any shortcuts on your desktop or within your applications, you'll want to reset them until such time when KGIS unveils its new General Public website (scheduled for September 2008), at which time both the Internal Departments and General Public will be pointed to the same www.kgis.org website.

Please be patient with us as we make this transition to a whole new software environment. In the meanwhile, get oriented to the new site via this Help document (or the Training Manual).  If you uncover any problems or have questions, please don't hesitate to contact one of the KGIS Staff or call our Help Desk at 215-2641. (However, City Departments should first contact the City Help Desk at 215-3030). For a list of known issues with the new website, go to the Projects: M2E Website Issues page.

Register of Deeds' Document Links Added to KnoxNetWhere

The Knox County Register of Deeds Office has provided KGIS (and KNOXnetWhere) users with new "hyperlink" tools which provide access to recorded deed documents. By integrating the Registers' computerized imaging system with the Knox County Property Assessor's database (hosted on KGIS), users are provided with a map-based entry point to recorded deeds (from which some of mapped parcel boundaries are derived). For more information on how to access the new hyperlinks, click here.
