Register of Deeds' Document Links Added to KnoxNetWhere

The Knox County Register of Deeds Office has provided KGIS (and KNOXnetWhere) users with new "hyperlink" tools which provide access to recorded deed documents. By integrating the Registers' computerized imaging system with the Knox County Property Assessor's database (hosted on KGIS), users are provided with a map-based entry point to recorded deeds (from which some of mapped parcel boundaries are derived). For more information on how to access the new hyperlinks, click here.

County Building Permit data on GIS undergoing changes

Due to some recent software changes by the Knox County Codes Department, MPC's translation of the County permit data into the KGIS database has been temporarily halted until the translation/standardization routines can be re-engineered. In the meanwhile, City and Farragut permits continue to be added to the KGIS database on their regular monthly basis. (The MPC permit information is available for viewing via the KNOXnetWhere? Development Activity theme). For more information, click here.

USGS Quads (1:24000) Theme added

KGIS has created another map theme within its KNOXnetWhere mapping site specifically for Click on image to see how to access the "USGS Quad Theme" within KnoxNetWheredisplay of the United States Geological Survey (USGS) 1:24000 scale topographic maps (also known as the 7.5-minute quadrangles). Within the theme, users will be able to display current-day KGIS features (such as parcel boundaries) on top of the USGS quads, which continue to be a great cartographic reference even though they have not been updated since the early 1990s, when the USGS 1:24000 program ended. For access to other historic USGS maps covering other areas of East Tennessee, visit the Univ. of Tennessee Map Library's Online Topographic Resource.
