KGIS has a new version of the IDS product. The IDS CD is a self-contained map viewing product that contains GIS viewing software and data for all Knox County. The CD contains all the basic KGIS layers including: planimetric, topographic, property, addresses, roads, zoning, political boundaries, and parcel acreage. IDS product brochure

KGIS's 20th Anniversary Event was not only well-attended, but it was also an excellent showcase of the various ways that our respective departments are using GIS technology. Chris Halcomb and the Event Planning Committee did a wonderful job of pulling all the details together to make for a smooth operation. And Dwight Kessel's "KGIS Champion" remarks made note of the "spirit of cooperation" that led to KGIS's initial founding. To view a picture gallery, click here.

A new theme has been added to the KNOXnetWhere? mapping website. City Engineering maintains survey control points throughout the city which can be seen on the City's website :  http://www.ci.knoxville.tn.us/engineering/civil/surveypoints.asp.  The mapping data is hosted by KGIS.  A round disk is placed in concrete for each one of these points for surveyors to reference.  The city added over 70 new points and flagged the ones destroyed by construction or demolition.  The City maintains over 1100 active survey control points.
