MPC has developed approximate boundaries of the Knox County Schools (KCS) Parental Responsibility Zones (PRZ’s) and added these to the elementary, middle and high school attendance area themes on kgis.net.  PRZ’s for elementary and intermediate schools are defined as areas within one mile of the school’s bus drop off location and 1.5 miles for middle and high schools.  KCS students who reside within the Parental Responsibility Zones are ineligible for KCS bus transportation services and their parents must provide transportation to and from school.   Because some students living within the PRZs walk or bicycle to their school, PRZs are considered high priority areas to planners and engineers when considering new sidewalk priorities.
